During his lifetime Chen Pan Ling (Jun Fun) was thought by some people to be the most informed man in the world on the principles and theories of Chinese Wushu.

He had come from a Henan family with deep experience and his father had studied at the Honan Shaolin Temple, and rigorously. Therefore he taught Chen from age seven on and selected the best teachers he could for his son.

Chen was born in 1891 and was lucky in his father’s choice of instructors and his own range of training.

He was able to study Tai Chi from Yang Shan Hou, Wu Chien Chuan (Wu Jian Quan), Hsu Yu Sheng (Xu Yu Sheng) and Chi Tzu Hsiu (Ji Zi Xiu).His Xing Yi was derived from Li Cun yi and Liu Cai Chen. He was taught Bagua by Cheng Hai Ting and Don Lan Ji.He traveled to Chen village and studied the Chen style in 1927, a time this was unheard of.
